Indirect filling types represent a solution to the durability and aesthetic problems of direct versions.
So-called inlays are realized by taking an impression of the cavity after removing the carious tissue and by shaping the filling under dental laboratory conditions. It is then fixed in the tooth by cementation in the office.
Although they are more costly than direct fillings due to their sophisticated technology and components, they are also more durable due to their much more precise fit. The use of different types of indirect fillings should therefore be considered. After all, it is not all the same how often a filling has to be replaced. This is because during the replacement of the filling the intact dental structure is gradually reduced, so the durability of the treatment, restoration is very important in order to preserve valuable dental structure. From this point of view, indirect filling types are significantly more advantageous than direct filling types.
